Equestrian First Aid at Work Level 3 – FAW

First Aid tailored to horse-riding, however the same skills can be transferred into First Aid for everyday life.

A course aimed at human first aid for anyone involved with horses where the First Aid at Work qualification is needed. In addition to the standard FAW L3 course, this course looks at specific injuries involved when working with horses. If you are involved in teaching riding or other activities you are required to have the BHS first aid qualification or the HSE First Aid at Work qualification. This course will meet those needs.

The First Aid at Work course (FAW) is ideal for most businesses whose risk assessment has identified that they require a fully trained first aider for their workplace. All courses are delivered, evaluated and quality assured to meet the new guidelines set out by the HSE in October 2013 and meet the requirements of the First Aid at Work (First Aid) regulations 1981 and subsequent 2017 changes.

Also included to comply with the latest HSE and ERC guidelines, are Tourniquets and Haemostatic dressings.

All our first aid courses fully meet the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021 as per the HSE requirements.

This course must be at least 20 contact hours and run over a minimum of 3 days and the certificate is valid for 3 years. To renew you need to attend a 12 contact hour 2-day FAW requalification course.  In May 2016 the HSE and Awarding Organisations announced that computer-based blended training is now allowed for all workplace first aid courses.

Candidates completing our FAW courses receive access to ProTrainings video library for refreshing skills and reference

We also offer a basic one-day course for those who do not need the qualification for teaching or professional reasons called Basic Equestrian First Aid.
